✈ Tirzah (Mohr) Baker ✈
Position: Food Service Manager
School: Alliance High School
Graduation Year: 1986
Years at ACS: 15

Favorite Memory:
"My favorite memories involve football games, then hanging out with friends at Friendly's Ice Cream after the game."

Influential Staff Member:
"Mr. Morris - He was always positive. He would say there wasn't a problem you couldn't solve if you put forward your best effort and set your mind to it. That holds true in life and not just math equations. He was always willing to help you when you needed it."

Choosing to work for ACS:
"I had kids in the school system so I wanted to work a job that I could be off when they were off and also still be able to be there for them when they got on the bus and when they got home. It was such a great way for me to get back into the workforce. Coming back to the school my parents graduated from, my siblings and I graduated from, and my children graduated from, turned into one of my best life decisions. My mom also retired from ACS."

Importance of giving back:
"I have always been proud of our small town and our school system. I would like to give back to the community I was raised in by being a positive and caring influence on the students and staff I get to work with, and to continue to build a strong and caring community."

Ms. Baker continues to make a difference where it all began by giving back to the community that has always felt like home to her. 🩵❤️ #RepthatA

Megan Harper and Cindy Gaines’ classes celebrated Apple Day and so did Bailey Balderson’s class last week! Each class enjoyed a yummy apple tasting featuring red, green, and yellow apples. Yellow apples were voted the favorite by both classes! 🍏

Students also took part in fun crafts and activities, and enjoyed delicious apple snacks and homemade applesauce!

What a fun and tasty day for these awesome classes! ☺️ #RepthatA

✈ Kaitlyn Lambdin ✈
Position: 1st Grade Teacher
School: Alliance Early Learning School
Graduation Year: 2018
Years at ACS: 1

Favorite Memory:
"I truly had great memories all throughout my time at ACS, so it's hard to pick just one. One of my favorites was being in Mr. Green's social studies class with Maddie Waggoner and Madi Gasparik in middle school. We had the best time in his class and he always made learning fun."

Influential Staff Members:
"Mrs. Haba and Mr. Fontaine were influential in my years at ACS. I can remember getting off the bus for the first day of 1st grade and being carried off the bus to my classroom. Mrs. Haba let me sit on her lap for the morning and was always so kind. Mr. Fontaine was my band director from 6th to 12th grade and he always had a way to make band fun. He took the time to get to know each of his students no matter how many of us there were. Their kindness and dedication to their students made my time at ACS so memorable."

Choosing to work for ACS:
"I chose to come back and work for ACS because of the amazing, dedicated teachers I had growing up. It is one of the main reasons I became a teacher in the first place. The teachers I had were so supportive and thoughtful and I knew they would do anything for any one of their students. I wanted to come back and give that same experience to other children. I want for other kids to know that they have someone here to support and love them."

Importance of giving back:
"I want other children to have the same lasting impact that I had at ACS. To not only enjoy school, but to feel welcomed and loved everyday. When so many people have poured into you, it makes it that much easier to give back."

Once an Aviator, always an Aviator. Ms. Lambdin's journey shows how the care of great teachers can inspire the next generation to do the same. 🩵❤️ #RepthatA

Assistant Superintendent Shawn Jackson spent time reading to Baeli Kimble’s 1st grade class at Alliance Early Learning School! Moments like these remind us how powerful reading can be in helping grow young minds! Reading to children not only supports early literacy skills, but also encourages curiosity and builds confidence. The students love having guest readers and look forward to it every Friday! ✈ #RepthatA

✈ Matthew Horning ✈
Position: Career Exploration Teacher
School: Alliance Middle School
Graduation Year: 1995
Years at ACS: 27

Favorite Memory:
"My favorite memories involve times when I was learning through experiences...a 4th grade play with Julie Poyser, middle school invention competition with Sally Vasilevich, cross stitching in Bill Carli's geometry class, and making a silent film with friends for Jim Ballor's humanities class."

Influential Staff Members:
"My honored educator my Senior year was Jim Ballor. He knew so many things about so many different topics and it was just fascinating to not just learn about English but also talk about movies and music and theater.

I met Gary King when I was in elementary school and he was working at Rockhill. Over the years he moved around in various roles and coaching jobs but was always someone who made me feel important and welcome."

Choosing to work for ACS:
"I recognize that many doors were open to me and many adults pointed me towards those open doors. I felt called to return and help students find their path to success even when their journey might be more challenging than mine."

Importance of giving back:
"I think it helps build trust between teachers and families when they know you grew up as an Aviator. There is something special about working with the children of people who were once my classmates and also seeing former students of mine out working in the community."

Today, Mr. Horning helps students discover their own paths, just as his teachers once did for him—an Aviator Alum inspiring future generations. 🩵❤️ #RepthatA

The students in the Video Productions Career Tech program visited Ohio University, where they toured the campus and explored the Scripps College of Communication’s media production facilities. 🎥 Experiences like this give students a firsthand look at career paths in their field and show how their classroom learning connects to real-world opportunities. It’s just one of the many ways our Career Tech programs prepare Aviators for Life, College, and Careers! ✈️ #RepthatA
