What an amazing day of technology-centered learning for all staff members at Alliance City Schools! 💻 Every year, the tech department plans Techvemberfest for the first Tuesday in November. The day began with a keynote from Tom Preston on cybersecurity, followed by three conference-style blocks where staff could attend sessions based on their interests! The sessions were taught by vendors and ACS staff members who wanted to empower their colleagues with some great new tech skills.
There were even sessions for classified staff members that focused on food safety and the best use of chemicals and equipment to make the day worthwhile for all staff.

Everybody’s goals, dreams and pathways won’t be the same. Don’t try to compare your success, or lack thereof, to anyone else’s. Your story is still developing, and you have more than enough time to influence how it ends. Hunker down, stay focused and grind for what you want in life. No one’s gonna go get it for you besides your reflection in the mirror. You’re capable of many things beyond your own imagination.”

Suzanne Hartline, a retired Alliance City Schools teacher, visited Becky Robertson's class as a guest reader to read the book "Stellaluna"! 🦇 The students loved listening to the story while a stuffed fruit bat hung on the rocking chair.
After the story, the students got to pass the stuffed fruit bat around and touch it. Then, they went back to their seats to enjoy a bat cookie Mrs. Hartline made for them. 🍪 The class finished up the "Stellaluna" lesson with a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting bats and birds.

The juniors and seniors in the Video Productions Career Tech program took a trip to Cleveland on Friday to see a live taping of the Fox 8 morning show and tour Cleveland State University's film school! 🎥 What a great way for the students to explore future careers in the video production industry and learn about the paths they can take to get there! #RepthatA

The Choralaires' Mystery Dinner Theater was a great success! 🎭 The cast brought the murder mystery at the Pink Flamingo to life with their great acting skills, dance moves and, of course, singing!

They watched the ants dig tunnels, work together and explore their habitat while learning about teamwork and the lives of ants. The students also kept journals to record the ants' daily activities and observations.

The students in Kaley Sloane's and Sam Young's classes at Alliance Elementary School practiced their trick-or-treating skills! 🎃 The fun day started with Superintendent Gress reading them a Halloween story. The students then took turns trick-or-treating around the building.

I was taught time management skills, how to effectively communicate with my peers and how to navigate diverse environments, among many other things. I was always encouraged to seek further knowledge and to keep going when things were difficult. This allowed me to navigate early adulthood and reach my goals!”

“My favorite memories will always be the Friday night football games. Nothing made my heart happier than being on the field marching during halftime and seeing our hard work come to life!”
Advice for Current AHS Students:
“Keep going!! Being bad at something initially just means that you have room to grow and become good at it eventually! You won't always be the best in the room, but you can always be YOUR best. Manage your time AND your energy. Be kind and be willing to learn both personally and professionally. You'll be surprised at how you grow when you allow yourself the space to do so!”

“Mr. Fontaine, my band teacher, and Mrs. Krichbaum, my Spanish teacher. Mr. Fontaine taught me from 5th through 12th grade and showed me how to have fun and still be productive. He taught me what it meant to work hard even when it felt impossible and that even though things felt hard, they were still achievable with enough effort. Mrs. Krichbaum showed me the importance of being inclusive and still being true to yourself. She taught me how to ask for help and how to show up for others when they needed it. These two teachers helped shape me in ways that I will never forget.”

“One thing I am most proud of is knowing that even though I may not always know how to do something, I always have the ability and strength to learn. With this thought process, I was able to step into a role that I felt ill-equipped for initially and still managed to end up with three promotions after putting in massive amounts of effort and remembering that I can do anything that I set my mind to. I ended up organizing a messy system, streamlining tasks, training multiple people for the position and filling a needed leadership gap.”

Students in Megan Harper's kindergarten class have been studying fall! 🍁 As part of their unit, students went on a leaf hunt, where they each collected several leaves. Each kindergartner completed a leaf investigation, which included looking closely at the leaves with a magnifying glass, drawing their leaves, sorting leaves by color and size, and measuring leaves with blocks. 🔎 What a perfect autumn activity! 🍂 #RepthatA
