Dr. Beth Canfield-Simbro

ALLIANCE, OHIO – (June 2, 2022) – Dr. Beth Canfield-Simbro was approved as the new member of the Alliance City Schools Board of Education during the board workshop held Wednesday evening. She is filling the seat left vacant by Lori Kumler who resigned effective May 18.

“I am honored to represent our community on the school board,” Canfield-Sinbro said. “I am looking forward to learning more about our wonderful school district.”

Canfield-Simbro has taught at the University of Mount Union since 2004. Currently, she is an associate professor in the education department. She has a Bachelor's degree from Wright State University and a Masters degree and PhD from The Ohio State University.

Currently, she holds positions on the Alliance Board of Health, the Alliance Community Pantry and is a Troop Leader for Girl Scouts 61727.

“As a school board, we have done everything we can to promote an environment that allows teachers to teach and students to learn. Having a board that is knowledgeable on the education system is a big help with creating an environment that promotes learning and growing at high levels,” said Elayne Dunlap, board president. “Beth is an educator and a professor in the education department at Mount Union, along with being a parent of students in the district. Since she will be replacing Lori Kumler, who was a professor at Mount Union, we are happy to be able to maintain that connection and partnership with our neighboring university.”

Canfield-Simbro will remain in the position until December 31, 2023.
