ALLIANCE, OHIO – (June 17, 2026) – Shelby Schutt was approved as the new principal of Alliance Preschool at last night’s Board of Education meeting. Schutt brings years of educational leadership experience to the position and will serve the students, staff and families in the preschool program with care and compassion.
The search for a new principal began in May after Adam De Monte announced his departure to accept a central office administrative position in another school district. The search began quickly to find the best possible candidate to serve as the new principal of Alliance Preschool.
“From our first conversation, it was clear that Shelby understands the importance of early childhood education and the lasting impact a strong preschool experience can have on a child's future,” said Rob Gress, superintendent of Alliance City Schools. “She brings a unique combination of instructional expertise, leadership experience and a genuine commitment to building relationships with students, families and staff. Her values align with ours, and I am excited for our preschool community to get to know and work with her.”
Schutt was a principal for a PreK-8 school in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District from 2016-2023 where she led the staff to advance student growth, implement targeted literacy improvement plans and drive early literacy achievement. In 2023, she left the principalship to broaden her scope of knowledge by becoming a regional literacy coach for the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. From 2024 to the present, Schutt started her own educational consulting firm where she helped to provide strategic consulting, professional development on the Science of Reading and support for improving the multi-tiered systems and supports and school culture development.
"Great schools are built on strong relationships, shared purpose, and a commitment to children,” Schutt said. “I am excited to serve the Alliance Preschool community and help create meaningful learning experiences that prepare our youngest learners for future success."
Schutt will officially step into the role on July 1.
