Course Description:

Throughout this program, students will examine the structure, function and disease processes of the body systems, understanding and interpreting generalized medical language as well as apply terminology specific to the body system being currently covered. Once correlating terminology has been introduced, students will use this knowledge to accurately and efficiently locate and apply International Classification of Disease 10th edition (ICD-10-CM) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Codes. Mastery of the coding process will facilitate the transition into exploration of medical insurance, third party payers, reimbursements and claim processing.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completed application process
  • TABE Test
  • Satisfactory background check
  • Passing drug screening
  • Medical clearance and records
  • 2-Step TB Test (Mantoux)

Certification/Licensure Information:

After students have successfully completed the coursework they will earn a diploma in Medical Billing and Coding with Office Administration and proceed to the certifying exam provided through the National Center for Competency Testing. Passing the exam will earn the student the credential of Insurance and Billing Specialist.
