THE BEAUTY + WELLNESS SCHOLARSHIP: This $1,000 scholarship is to support the health of college women. Requirements: Must be a graduating high school senior, current college undergraduate, or current graduate student at a 4-year, 2-year, vocational, or technical school in the United States, must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, and must identify as female. CARING.COM SCHOLARSHIP: As the population of older adults continues to grow and life spans lengthen, more and more young people are taking on the role of caregiver for older loved ones. While the exact number of young people taking on this responsibility is not well understood, it’s estimated to be well over 1 million.On top of their demanding caregiving duties, many of these young people are simultaneously pursuing high school, college or graduate-level education. THE COLLEGE CLUB OF CANTON CENTENNIAL SCHOLARSHIP GRANT: This one time $2500 scholarship is for local women in the Greater Stark County area. Applicants must be attending an accredited college or university in the spring or fall of 2020 and be working toward a two-year, four-year or post graduate degree. AAA OHIO AUTO CLUB SAFETY PATROL SCHOLARSHIP: The AAA Ohio Auto Club is offering high school seniors the opportunity to apply for one of ten $1,000 grants by competing in the AAA School Safety Patrol $1,000 Grant Scholarship Program. To apply, students must complete the application form, which includes the student's academic record, safety patrol experience, in-school and out-of-school activities, and references. DR. G. JAMES PINCHAK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Dr. G. James Pinchak Memorial Scholarship is named in honor of our late friend and mentor, the Dr. G. James Pinchak. The Memorial Scholarship has been established to aid and honor outstanding high school students in career-technical education.The Executive Board of the Ohio Career-Technical Administrators Association (OCTA) is proud to offer scholarship opportunities in his name. The purpose of this scholarship is to help further the education and training of career-technical education students and is available to all current Ohio senior students enrolled in a career and technical education (CTE) program in a city, compact or joint vocational school district. LEO LUCAS SCHOLARSHIP: The Leo Lucas Scholarship, named for the late Leo Lucas, a Dayton City school board member and educator who founded the Ohio Black Caucus of School Board Members provides graduating ethnically diverse high school seniors funds for college. Requirements include student must be ethnically diverse, eligible to graduate from a public high school in 2020, must provide proof of acceptance to an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning with the intention of completing a two year or four-year degree prior to award conferral, and attend that school; and must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. YLS BOOK SCHOLARSHIP: College textbooks are a necessary, but costly, expense that is not typically covered by academic scholarships. The United Way of Stark County’s Our Young Leaders Society (YLS) helps ease that burden for students through its textbook scholarship fund. A-1 TRANSPORT, INC. SCHOLARSHIP: A-1 Auto Transport, Inc. is pleased to announce three scholarships worth $1,000, $500, and $250 will be awarded under the A-1 Auto Transport Scholarship every year. Pursuing a college education is a costly endeavor for most students, especially those who are coping with the financial fallout from a serious accident. For this scholarship, write an essay explaining in detail how a serious accident involving you, a family member, or a close friend has impacted your life. This could have been a car crash, a slip-and-fall accident, a work-related injury, or any other serious accident. Explain how an injury from the accident has affected you or a loved one by: Limiting or restricting daily activities, affecting feelings and relationships, and impacting finances. The essay should be between 750 and 1,000 words. In the essay, you must include the name of the college you are applying to or are enrolled in and how you plan to finance your education (loans, grants, scholarships, work, etc.).
