THROCKMORTON SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is for students who met these specific requirements: Student must be African American or Native American and must reside within the Northeast Ohio or Western Pennsylvania geographic region, have a copy of birth certificate, attend an educational facility that must be in Northeastern Ohio or Western Pennsylvania, have a copy of current High School/College grades and GPA, have a current financial needs form from the school that documents grants, scholarships and loans being presently received, have a current bill from the school for the next semester/quarter, have a copy of the courses being taken for the next semester/quarter, write a one or more short paragraphs that should state why you should be considered, your future goals, college major/minor, needs, extracurricular activities at school or in the community, and send in final high school transcript (if applying during senior year of high school). Click here for more info.  Or, email april.m.thomas@huntington.com for questions regarding the scholarship.

DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is for any young lady in the class of 2018 who is involved in school and/or community activities, has outstanding in academics, leadership, athletics, or the arts.  Click here for the link to the application.


OHIO UNIVERSITY CHEMICAL ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is available through Ohio University for any student interested in chemical engineering who is an Alliance High School graduate. Requirements include admission to Ohio University and acceptance into the Engineering college. Click here for the website to access the website. THE BEAUTY + WELLNESS SCHOLARSHIP: This $1,000 scholarship is to support the health of college women. Requirements: Must be a graduating high school senior, current college undergraduate, or current graduate student at a 4-year, 2-year, vocational, or technical school in the United States, must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, and must identify as female. All majors and GPAs are welcome to apply! Click here for the application. The scholarship will be given out quarterly. Deadlines are January 1, March 31, June 30, and September 30 every year.


HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIPS: These national and state scholarships are based on students pursuing a bachelor's degree, who have at least a 2.0 GPA and who need financial assistance for college. Click here for link


CARING.COM SCHOLARSHIP: As the population of older adults continues to grow and life spans lengthen, more and more young people are taking on the role of caregiver for older loved ones. While the exact number of young people taking on this responsibility is not well understood, it’s estimated to be well over 1 million.On top of their demanding caregiving duties, many of these young people are simultaneously pursuing high school, college or graduate-level education. Scholarships for student-caregivers help ease the financial burden faced by these extremely hardworking students. Click here for multiple scholarships. THE ROSE SCHOLARS PROGRAM: The Rose Scholars Program, founded by NBA Star Derrick Rose, offers one scholarship of $200,000 (paid out $25k per semester for 4 years) and two scholarships of up to $20,000. The scholarships are open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA and a 1230 SAT score and/or a 21 ACT score, who are civically minded and display leadership qualities. Applicants must complete an online application that requires SAT scores, extracurricular activities, and an essay. Click here for the application. DEADLINE: September 30, 2018


TIMKENSTEEL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: TimkenSteel is offering college scholarships to the children of their employees. They are offering one $20,000 renewable scholarship, one $10,000 renewable scholarship, and five $5,000 scholarships. Click here for the application. DEADLINE: Oct 10, 2018


OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY, INC. KAPPA TAU CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP: Kappa Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will award five scholarships to academically talented minority students who have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and who have participated in a college preparatory program. Candidates must submit a completed application, two letters of recommendation, a picture, a brief autobiography, along with a current high school transcript, and the form to be completed by the counselor. Click here for the application. ACT STUDENT CHAMPION AWARD: ACT recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and plan in place. ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition. Students in the graduating class of 2019 who have taken the ACT who fit the following criteria should apply: A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions, students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale, and preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students. THE ANNE FORD AND ALLEGRA FORD THOMAS SCHOLARSHIPS: The Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarships offer financial assistance to two graduating high school seniors with documented learning disabilities and/or ADHD who are pursuing post-secondary education. Click here for the website to learn more about the two scholarships. JACK KENT COOKE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP - The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is looking for applicants for their College Scholarship. Requirements include Exceptional academic ability and achievement: Strong academic record, academic awards and honors, and substantive assessments by educators providing confidential recommendations. In addition to GPA and college entrance exam scores, we consider participation in available advanced courses, commitment to learning, and intellectual curiosity; Unmet financial need: Demonstrate unmet financial need/will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000; Persistence: Determination and perseverance in the face of challenges, ability to set and remain focused on goals and to put in the effort needed to meet those goals in the face of obstacles; Leadership: Ability to organize and positively influence others in and out of school (family, religious community, sports, arts, etc.); Service to Others: Purposeful and meaningful commitment to others which may be evidenced by participation in volunteer/community service activities. Click here for the application. THE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. COMMISSION SCHOLARSHIP: The Martin Luther King Jr. Commission will be awarding a scholarship to a deserving student who meets the following criteria: submit a high school transcript, letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor, letter of recommendation from a reputable citizen of the student's community, letter of student's qualifications and financial need, a 500 word essay outlining the impact that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s philosophy of nonviolence has had on the student's life, and a photo of the student.  Click here for the application. UNLIMITED CELLULAR US SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: At Unlimited Cellular, we believe that higher education is essential in the professional development of our younger generation and, as such, we've decided to grant them an alternative funding option, by offering them a chance to win a US $1,800.00 scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship program, the successful applicant should meet the following criteria: Be a U.S. citizen, be currently enrolled at an accredited U.S. undergraduate or graduate program, be in need of financial support, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. To apply for our scholarship program, you will need to submit an essay detailing your response to the following questions: "How has your online shopping experience changed over the years?" and why we should grant you this scholarship?” The essay should be at least 400-words long and written in a Word doc. CHILDREN'S DEFENSE FUND-OHIO BEAT THE ODDS SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship program honors outstanding high school students who have overcome tremendous adversity, demonstrated academic excellence and given back to their communities. Annually, CDF-Ohio identifies five Ohio high school students to honor and support by providing each with a $5,000 college scholarship, a laptop computer, an invitation to join CDF’s youth leadership development programs, and other support. Requirements include be a current high school senior in Ohio attending a public, charter or alternative high school, be nominated or seek nomination from a teacher, counselor, caseworker, or other adult who can speak to the student’s challenges; have overcome significant adversity such as, but not limited to, poverty, disability, homelessness or abuse; demonstrate participation in school activities, community organizations, employment and/or community service; and have a current G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher or graduate by July 2019 .Click here for the website and application. AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP: Applicants need to be current high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college and who demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities. ATHENA/WOMAN OF THE YEAR SCHOLARSHIP: $1000 scholarship to a deserving female high school senior who has demonstrated community involvement, academic achievement, and leadership. Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and be accepted at a recognized institution of learning offering a post-high school curriculum. MAJESTICVOICE SCHOLARSHIP: The winner of the MajesticVoice Scholarship will receive $1,000 and the opportunity to perform their selection at a MajesticVoice concert. A $500 scholarship will also be given.The genre of music that MajesticVoice Chorus performs is as follows: Blues, Country, Easy Listening, Holiday (including Christmas sacred and secular), Inspirational (including Gospel), Jazz, Pop music, Soft rock and Patriotic. We do not perform Alternative, Hip Hop, Rap, Hard Rock, Indie pop, New Age or World Music. Requirements include resident of the state of Ohio, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an Ohio institution of higher learning in music, submission of a vocal and/or instrumental music performance by the applicant with applicable sheet music, scholastic aptitude, exhibited leadership skills and integrity, community involvement, immediate family members of the Scholastic Selection Committees and MajesticVoice Board members are not eligible. DIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT SCHOLARSHIP: Architects Foundation offers a scholarship that supports high school and undergraduate minority students who are entering, enrolled in, or transferring into a National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)-accredited undergraduate architecture program. Scholarships may be renewed every year until the student’s degree is completed, for up to 5 years ($20,000 total award). Click here for the application. DEADLINE: January 16, 2019


CLEVELAND CAVALIERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: The Cavaliers and Huntington Bank will award ten (10) Northeast Ohio high school seniors with a $2,000.00 college scholarship. Graduating seniors must submit a 500 word essay, perform a high level of service in their communities, provide a high school transcript, ACT and/or SAT scores and one letter of recommendation. OAASFEP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: The purpose of the OAASFEP scholarship program is to financially support postsecondary education for qualifying Ohio high school seniors who are planning to attend a college/university located in the state of Ohio for the fall semester. Requirements include documentation of High School GPA, extracurricular activities/leadership activities within the community, school, or church, and three letters of recommendation, including letters from a principal or faculty member, an OAASFEP member, and a non-family member. JACKIE ROBINSON FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: Through its Mentoring and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $30,000 over four years to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice. Eligibility includes be a graduating high school senior; plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States; show leadership potential; demonstrate a dedication to community service; present evidence of financial need; be a United States citizen; have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21; and not possess a degree from a 2 or 4–year College when applying for the scholarship. BILL OF RIGHTS INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP: The Bill of Rights Institute is offering a “We the Student” essay contest. A national grand prize of $5,000 (plus a scholarship to Constitutional Academy) will be awarded along with six runners up scholarships at $1,250 each and eight honorable mention scholarships at $500 each. FLAVORFUL FUTURES SCHOLARSHIP: We are looking for fun and unique candidates for our Flavorful Futures Scholarship. Sparkling Ice® is awarding FIVE $5,000 scholarships to eligible high school seniors who are planning their bright and colorful futures. THE PHILOMATHEON SOCIETY OF THE BLIND, INC SCHOLARSHIP: Since 1978, The Philomatheon Society of the Blind has made a scholarship grant available each year for a qualified visually impaired Stark County high school senior or qualified former student.The grant is for one thousand two-hundred and fifty dollars ($1,250.00) for each of two years of college or advance training. AAA OHIO AUTO CLUB SAFETY PATROL SCHOLARSHIP: The AAA Ohio Auto Club is offering high school seniors the opportunity to apply for one of ten $1,000 grants by competing in the AAA School Safety Patrol $1,000 Grant Scholarship Program. To apply, students must complete the application form, which includes the student's academic record, safety patrol experience, in-school and out-of-school activities, and references. THE LOWER GREAT LAKES CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS AND SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP: Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college or university and intend to pursue a career in television and or a television-related field. THE COLLEGE CLUB OF CANTON SCHOLARSHIP LOAN: Each year the College Club of Canton extends to at least one deserving female student a loan in the amount of $6,000 which is given over a period of four years. The money is loaned in the amount of $1,500 per year. Requirements for this scholarship loan include attending a four-year college or university, be a female resident of a Stark County school district, and maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA while in college. THE NORTHEAST OHIO CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC WORKS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP: The Northeast Ohio Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) is offering ten $1,000 scholarships to students residing in the Northeast Ohio area enrolled in a Public Works field of study including Engineering, Administrative, Vocational/Trade, and Environmental Impact/Water Quality disciplines. Click here for the application. OAPSE/AFSCME MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION PROGRAM: Available to any graduating high school senior whose parent or legal guardian is a member in good standing of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE/AFSCME Local 4/AFL-CIO) and who intends to enroll in a full-time degree program. THE PREFERRED REALITY TRADE SCHOOL AND COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP: Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices The Preferred Realty, Western Pennsylvania and Ohio’s leading real estate company, has launched its inaugural Trade School and College Scholarship program. Three renewable scholarships valued up to $4,000 ($1,000 per academic year) will be awarded to three qualified individuals. The Dream… Innovate… Grow scholarship is inspired by the key beliefs and attributes Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices The Preferred Realty has been built on. The sponsor will choose recipients who also embrace these ideals both personally and academically. To qualify, candidates must reside within the company’s represented service area (which includes 15 counties in Pennsylvania and 15 counties in Ohio), have maintained at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and intend to become a full-time student at a college, university or trade school for the fall of 2019. FIRST COMMONWEALTH BANK SCHOLARSHIP: First Commonwealth Bank has a scholarship program which awards $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors based on community involvement, GPA, and residence in one of the counties in their footprint (Stark County residents are eligible). Our mission is to improve the financial lives of our neighbors and their businesses. THE OHIO OIL AND GAS ENERGY EDUCATION PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP: The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) and the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation (Foundation) are pleased to announce our scholarship program targeted at students pursuing careers in the crude oil and natural gas industry. Each scholarship is worth a minimum of $1,000 per year and can be renewed for up to four years. The minimum scholarship applicant criteria includes: Must be a U.S. citizen, must have a career goal in the crude oil and natural gas industry, must be an OHIO resident OR a student attending, or planning to attend, an accredited OHIO college, university, technical or trade school, and must have and maintain a grade point average (G.P.A.) of 2.5 or higher. Click here for the application. THE UNCF STEM SCHOLARS PROGRAM: The UNCF STEM Scholars Program is a 10-year initiative designed to identify and provide scholarship and academic support for a total of 500 talented African American high school students who aspire to earn STEM degrees and to pursue careers in STEM fields. The program enables highly capable young people to pursue undergraduate STEM majors and prepares them for successful careers in a variety of STEM professions. YWCA OF ALLIANCE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Must be a senior girl who shows financial need and has at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Essay required as well as two letters of recommendation and a transcript. CANTON LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION: Offering $500 scholarships to students who are descendants of graduates or attendees of Canton Lincoln Junior or Senior High School, or graduates who are paid members of CLHSAA for the current calendar year. If the applicant’s only lineal Lincoln ancestor is deceased, then the paid membership requirement is waived. Applicants must be attending a postsecondary institution after high school. THE WASHINGTON RURITAN CLUB SCHOLARSHIP: The Washington Ruritan Club will provide a total of six scholarships for 2019. Each scholarship will be approximately $600. Students will be selected from Marlington, Louisville, and Alliance Schools Districts. Applicants should include a school transcript and two letters of recommendation including one which may be from someone who is not part of the school community. A-1 TRANSPORT, INC. SCHOLARSHIP: A-1 Auto Transport, Inc. is pleased to announce three scholarships worth $1,000, $500, and $250 will be awarded under the A-1 Auto Transport Scholarship every year. The scholarship will be sent directly to the school/university/college’s financial aid office. Any current, full-time, part-time student of an accredited or non-accredited institute, truck driving school or other logistics program is eligible to apply. THE OPPU ACHIEVERS SCHOLARSHIP: The OppU Achievers Scholarship celebrates students who transform opportunity into results. RUSSELL BROGAN/MILE BRANCH GRANGE #933 SCHOLARSHIP: This is a one-time only, non-renewable award. Applicants for this scholarship must be a grange member or have grange involvement (Mile Branch Grange #933 members will be given priority). Also must have a minimum 2.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale. Applicants can attend any university, community college, vocational, or trade school. Lastly, must establish financial need. AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF DRILLING ENGINEERS SCHOLARSHIP: Students must have a 3.5 GPA or higher, score a minimum of a 27 on the ACT or a minimum of 600 in Math and 600 in Critical Reading on the SARA, be enrolled in an accredited college in PA, OH, or WV. The Appalachian Chapter of the AADE is utilizing these scholarships to encourage college bound high school seniors to consider a career in the oil and gas industry. P.E.O CHAPTER CP BOOK AWARD: The purpose of this $500 award is to help local women students with the cost of college/university books.The P.E.O. Chapter CP Book Award goes to a woman in her final academic year of secondary education meeting the following requirements and providing documentation (modeled after the P.E. O. STAR Scholarship): Exhibits excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and future potential, Has a minimum cumulative un-weighted GPA of 3.0 – on a 4.0 scale, Is a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States, Is accepted and plans to attend an accredited post – secondary educational institution in the United States or Canada, full – time or part time, in the fall of the academic year following high school graduation, Is recommended and receives the vote of local P.E. O. chapter CP after reading submitted essays. To be considered for the PEO Book Award, the student must submit by a written recommendation from a teacher or counselor that testify that the above requirements are true. YLS BOOK SCHOLARSHIP: College textbooks are a necessary, but costly, expense that is not typically covered by academic scholarships. The United Way of Stark County’s Our Young Leaders Society (YLS) helps ease that burden for students through its textbook scholarship fund. CANTON STUDENT LOAN FOUNDATION: The Canton Student Loan Foundation provides low interest student loans to Stark County graduates who have and maintain at least a 2.00 GPA and who are pursuing post high school education or training on a full-time basis. Qualified applicants can borrow each academic year up to a total maximum loan of $12,000. Freshmen can borrow $3,000 per year, sophomores, $4,000 and juniors can receive $6,000 for a maximum of $12,000. ROSEN & OHR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: The 2019 Rosen & Ohr Scholarship Program is accepting essays from students who have suffered injuries due to an accident or who have been impacted personally by a loved one’s accident.
