Aviator Weekly - Dec. 10

Alliance Early Learning School

\r\n

The preschoolers at Alliance Early Learning School look forward to a special visit from Janet Metzger.  She visits for story time at AELS and engage young students in age appropriate literature and songs. The preschool team is grateful for our community partners at Rodman Public Library who always provide enriching activities for the students.

\r\n

Kindergarten students in Lori Gasparik, Megan Harper/Cynthia Gaines and Shari Johnson's classes took a dance class. After reading the story, "Degas and the Little Dancer," the students spent the entire week learning about art, music and dance. Holly Power, who danced for many years, took the students through a ballet class. They warmed up, stretched and learned the five positions in ballet. They got to practice their skills with a little music afterward. What a fun way to make a book come to life.

Students will also get to participate in a question and answer session with the actors and directors after the play is over.

Read 180

\r\n

Students from Kim Cody's Read 180 classes, combined sixth, seventh and eighth graders, have read 733,019 words so far this school year. This is an amazing accomplishment. The students are emerging into life-long readers. Please continue to encourage your students to read at home. The more they read the better they get at it. The students continue to persevere through the daily challenges and have so much to be proud of.
